Hi I am Leanora Hernandez, the head of the Student Advocacy Program (SAP) at South Tahoe High School. I believe that no matter how hard our schools try, there is a voice that goes unheard, a conflict that goes unresolved and people who are not seen. The youth knows this, they experience it, hear it and witness it. SAP is an opportunity for students to see that not only do they have a voice, but that voice can and should be heard. It is my goal that through SAP, we will be able to amplify these voices and prove that there is always an opportunity for young people to learn that they have rights and the ability to act upon said rights. It is our responsibility at SAP to foster an environment of not only justice but of understanding and equality, to educate and ensure that as our youth integrates into society, they will understand the value of being able to advocate for others and for themselves. I, and the members of SAP hope to make an impact and bring attention to what injustices go unseen.
