Student Advocacy Program Governance Board
The Student Advocacy Program Governance Board serves as the central leadership and administrative body of SAP. Established one year after SAP's founding, the Governance Board emerged in response to the rapid growth of the program and the need for a unified structure to maintain consistency, quality, and collaboration across multiple institutions. As the principal office of SAP, the Governance Board provides essential oversight, strategic leadership, and inter-branch coordination. It ensures that each SAP branch—whether at a middle school, high school, or college—upholds the program's mission of protecting student rights, promoting fair and inclusive policies, and amplifying youth voices within their educational environments.
The Board plays a key role in handling major advocacy cases that require additional support or cross-institutional collaboration. It also addresses internal issues, including inter-branch conflicts or policy changes, to maintain the integrity and ethical standards of the program. By offering training, resources, and mentorship, the Governance Board empowers local SAP branches to thrive while preserving their autonomy. In addition to its regulatory and support role, the Governance Board oversees the expansion of SAP to new schools and communities. Through outreach and partnerships, it works to ensure that more students have access to fair representation, restorative processes, and safe avenues for voicing their concerns.
No matter the challenge, the SAP Governance Board is committed to ensuring that student advocacy is strong, sustainable, and always centered on justice.
